Our algorithm doesn't just check five boxes — it adapts how each factor is weighted based on context. During strong aurora storms, moon brightness matters far less (bright aurora is visible even under a full moon). During weak activity, our darkness threshold becomes stricter because faint aurora requires deeper twilight. We also incorporate real-time solar wind data (Bz component) from the DSCOVR satellite, giving us 15–60 minutes of advance warning before Kp-based forecasts react. These science-backed adaptations, validated against peer-reviewed research, mean fewer false alerts and more accurate "go outside now" moments.
